Thamarind Resort Gili Gede

Good

The kitchen ran out of drinks and being on an island could not restock for a few day. We ran out of soft drink and beer. There where no option for even simple cocktails like a gin and tonic.

The location is absolutely fabolous. Forget the northern Gilis! Gili Gede is a lonely paradise. The staff was outstanding. The snorkeling trips you can do with them are great. We had a blast with our guides and captain. With other guests in a larger group it was even cheaper and more fun, too.We would definitely come back!!!

It is an island and island life is a bit different. Sometimes not everything on the menu is available, but that is island life as we know it. We still highly recommend.

It was an incredibly family atmosphere and very helpful and friendly staff. All our requests were met and for us, unlike many other accommodations, it was a very personal exchange with the staff. The excursions offered (snorkel tour and sunset tour) were fantastic and the special thing was that we got the feeling that these excursions were individually tailored to the guests.

Staff were friendly, breakfasts were quite nice and. Hut was nice.

This resort was too far from anything. There was no pool, the tide went out during the day leaving a lot of unsightly dead coral and didn't really lend itself to swimming. There was nowhere to walk to and to go on snorkeling trips cost $60AUD a time. Snorkeling wasnt good from the beach. Our hut wasn't cleaned during the 4 days we were there, there was no safe, the bed was extremely uncomfy and although there were two wooden chairs outside they weren't comfortable enough to sit on for any length of time. Definitely not good value for money compared with other places we stayed on this trip and what they offered. Wouldn't go back again.

It was very quite, so the personnel was really focussed on us (sometimes a bit too much), they were very caring and making sure that everything was organized they way we liked it.

It is very well kempt, spacious, and situated on a tranquil, lulling shoreline

A shower with some water pressure, and possibly even slightly heated could be the only personal adjustment I can want for

This is place is very special. Maybe some will find the huts to be basic, but we should take into account that this is a very remote place. A very small island with no water source, they bring fresh water with the boats from inland. The place is very big, we had a wooden hut right on the beach, feeling like on a privat beach. There are very few tourists around. we spent there 5 nights and we got to meet 5 families, we felt like a little community. We took the sunset trip which we highly recommend, probably it was the best sunset we had. On a very small sandy island where just 2 monkeys are living. Incredible experience. Also we took a snorkeling trip, very nice and special. We like it so much so we made this trip twice. Food is very good, they have a talented cook.

I would like to see more women involved with the tourists, not just for cleaning.

very quiet place, this is the perfect to lie, relax, and there is enough space, which you don't have at the neighbouring accomodations snorkeling is fantastic, great riff on the beach staff is always helpfull

there is nearly no possibilty to swim stuff should be better trained quite expensive

The place is very quiet and beautiful, the staff is so friendly, rooms are cute, clean and confortable. The restaurant is very good and the breakfast perfect too :) Easy to book snorkeling and diving trips. Thank you very much we won't forget our stop in Gili Gede !

Perfect place to relax and snorkel (coral reef just in front of the private beach) Thamarind team is amazing, very helpful (they organized a night transfer from the airport to the resort) and plans many activities (both snorkel and diving) Very good cuisine, spacious and high-privacy room with an incredible view of the beach

Nothing, everything was perfect

it's just a wonderfull place to stay. Locally owned with a staff that's just great. they are so friendly and helpful. Abu and his family are wonderful hosts. The snorkelling trips are great. Turtle, seahorse and lot's of Nemo's. We left with tears in our eyes. Thank you all.

Beach paradise. Lovely setting, laid back friendly staff, didnt wear shoes for days. Good dive school next door. Great bonfires on the beach.

Food was limited and service slow - they kept running out of things. No one is in a hurry on Gile Gede though. The deluxe room wasnt as nice as the bungalows which sadly were fully booked.

The staff were first class, especially Hamri, Yan, and Adam. They made our stay so much better.

I thought the price was too high for the facilities offered.

- the location is amazing, Gili Gede is more than a secret paradise, its a place to find family and friends, enjoy the clearest blue water you can imagine surrounded by pure nature - in front of Tamarind resort you will find a healthy colorful coral reef, actually couple of them - you wake up, grab your snorkel and just enjoy this before or after breakfast, during the day whenever you want- the staff is the most amazing you will probably meet during your travel, they will prepare such a nice setting for you, they are the kindest and most friendly, well organized, they prepare fresh fish if you ask for;snorkeling or diving trips with amazing guides;trips to secret islands etc.- Abu, the lovely owner is a LOCAL, who is supporting education, tries to stop poverty and pollution, who is sharing everything he has and also will make you understand how precious tap water is at all - we loved this so much - the food is always fresh and really tasty - the handmade bungalows offer anything you need- whenever we come back or you ask for a recommendation for a magical and calm place - TAMARIND RESORT IS THE PLACE

Love the staff! Everyone was so friendly and helpful. They really tried their best to make me feel welcome and comfortable. I love that they gave me the front beach facing room. So nice to be able to open my door and see the sunrise every single morning. I like the location. It's quiet yet close to the main island that it doesn't feel as isolated from the rest of Lombok. It's a bit far from, say, Gili Asahan but that is actually the beauty of it. Going from one gili to the next gives the real experience of an island life in Indonesia :) The diving was great! Adam and Upang were just the right boat crew one could ask for! And Fandy as a dive master was very helpful with his tips and tricks to manage all the mishap with my dive gear. He's also very knowledgeable of all the sites. They don't give us bottled mineral water in the room but free flow is available from the restaurant. Bravo! Less plastic!

Nothing major but they can pay a bit more attention to the mosquito net around the bed. Mine had some stains from the poop of a gecko :D Maybe they can add a reading lamp in the room because the room lighting was very soft. Great for relaxing. Not so great for reading. Also not so great for divers who have photography equipment. I struggled a bit cleaning my equipment up, had to use my mobile's light. An extra mat would be nice to put in front of the door's room so we can clean up our feet before entering the room. Especially after swimming so the room's floor won't get wet. While it's great that there is no bottled water, but not every guest will remember bringing their own tumbler. Also when diving, bottled water is still given. Would be great to provide tumblers for guests, label it with their names, to be refilled. I know a dive resort that does it in Alor.

a perfect location to chill. there is not much life on the island so you can enjoy some quiet time at the beach. the staff was super helpful and simply lovely. the homemade food was delicious (Gadu-gadu omg!). despite some minor things, we really enjoyed. the property organises transport! the bungalow was cozy, though keep in mind there is no hot water there (though no need for it, its quite hot there)

mosquito nests require fixing, though there are not many insects there tbh. they guys are lovely but they are still learning English which leads to some minor misunderstandings.

We received a very warm welcome from the staff and were able to check in even though we arrived early. We want to give a massive thank you to the young man who works here called Aide. He made our stay perfect and made sure we have everything we need. The room is beautiful, very specious and we enjoyed the outside bathroom. It has an air-conditioning and a mosquito net. The breakfast is included and you can choose between 3 items, coffee/tea or juice is also for free. The menu has lots of options and we tried the vegetable curry which was fantastic.
